Not all natives of Munich know this corner of Munich. But all photographers in Munich know this place very well and use it as a background for wedding photo shoots. Previously, the courtyard was walled by Marstallplatz and it could be accessed only through a narrow passage. The yard, which was an enclosed space in the form of a garden, was called a cabinet. Today, as it was then, this small courtyard is located on the eastern edge of the residence and is a landscape garden with a fountain, small water tanks, sculptures and places for rest. Only at the turn of the millenniums began the restoration of the garden. The garden, which was reopened to the public in June 2003, is now open to the public. The garden was awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize in 2005 and was nominated for the DBA 2006. It is described as a “little pearl” that conveys “a cheerful atmosphere” and “a charming mood”.
